A total 22 children have so far received support from “The Bulgarian Christmas”. Funds from the initiative were used to buy medicines for the one-year treatment of 15 children. For eight of them, suffering from nephrotic syndrome, a medication has been provided which will help to overcome their cortico-dependence.

Funds have been allocated for an expensive medicine which ensures the treatment of a child suffering from diabetes for six months.

A liquid-draining valve, a Zimmer frame, a hearing aid for implantation, medicines for the treatment of Noonan syndrome and tumour of the brain stem of another five children have also been purchased.

The necessary funds have also been allocated for the tests of the five-year-old Lyubcho Elenkov, which will determine his chances of being treated with cell stem transplantation in Moscow.

Tomorrow, 9 March, from 11 a.m. METRO Cash&Carry – Bulgaria, will present its donation within the framework of the initiative – an echocardiograph - to the на Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment in Plovdiv.

The decisions for the allocation of funds and for the purchase of medical equipment are taken with the signing of a tri-partite protocol by representatives of the Administration of the President, Nova Television and the Bulgarian National Television.
