With the calls and SMS to number 1117 on New Year’s Eve the money collected by the initiative “The Bulgarian Christmas - 2005” in support of paediatric clinics and children in need of medical treatment exceeded BGN 2,000,000.

The total sum to date is BGN 2,011,751. It does not include the value of the medicines donated by pharmaceutical companies worth BGN 36,000.

Nearly half of the collected funds were received through telephone calls and SMS in the networks of BTC, vivatel, Globul and M-Tel. BGN 1,062,297 have been paid into the special donation bank account.

The children whose medical treatment is supported byВ  "The Bulgarian Christmas" are chosen jointly by the Bulgarian Paediatric Association the Bulgarian Neonatology Association, the Ministry of Health and the organisers of the charity initiative. The decisions for the allocation of funds and for the purchase of medical equipment are taken with the signing of a tri-partite protocol by representatives of the Administration of the President, Nova Television and the Bulgarian National Television.
