BGN 821,805 have been collected to date under the initiative “The Bulgarian Christmas – Give Hope to a Child in Need!” Nearly BGN 390,000 of them have been raised through telephone calls and SMS.

Raiffeisenbank announced today that it is undertaking the treatment of the three-year-old Lyubomir Elenkov. The child was born prematurely after his mother and father were hit by a drunken driver outside their home. The mother died, the father is still in a coma. The fierce blow damaged the unborn child. The boy is diagnosed with severe cerebral paralysis, but the transplantation of stem cells can help Lyubcho learn to walk.

The culmination of the campaign this year too will be the charity Christmas concert on 25 December. It will start at the National Opera and Ballet at 7.30 p.m. So far participation in the concert has been confirmed by Vesko Pantaleev – concert master of the Royal Opera in Amsterdam, duo Karizma, Marin and Vyara from Star Academy, actor Vassil Mihailov, Beloslava, D2 and Dido, Dilyana Nikiforova and Yassen Vulchanov from the National Opera and Ballet, alumni of the Panayot Pipkov music school in Pleven, Nadka Karadjova, the Rosna Kitka children’s ensemble, the Romanian group Morandi, Vassil Naidenov and others.

The decisions for the allocation of funds and for the purchase of medical equipment are taken with the signing of a tri-partite protocol by representatives of the Administration of the President, Nova Television and the Bulgarian National Television.
