List of the children, supported by
"The Bulgarian Christmas - 2005"

Nine children – David Slavchov Lashkov, 8, from the village of Dolni Tsibur, Peter-Nikolai Dimchev Ranov, 8, from Hissarya, Polina Dimitrova Petrova, 3, from Sofia, Mihaela Damyanova Damyanova, 5, from Bourgas, Kristian Hristov Hristov, 15 г, from Gorna Oryahovitsa, Peter Ivov Kandov, 14, from Sofia, Doykan Ognyanov Danailov, 5, from Sevlievo, Evgeni Mateev Genchev, 15, from Stara Zagora, and Theodor Stefanov Gyurov, 8, from Sofia,  suffer from nephrotic syndrome. They need supporting treatment with the medication Sandimmun Neoral, which is not paid either by the NHIF or the central government budget. With funds from “The Bulgarian Christmas” the necessary medicines were bought for these children until the end of 2006.

Isabella Krassimirova Tomova, 10, from Vidin, Jossif Nikolaev Jossifov, 4, from the village pf Turnava, Blagovesta Borislavova Kostadinova, 3, from Sandanski, Nadezhda Andreeva Kehadjiiska, 5, from Karlovo, Slavi Emilov Pantev, 10, from Assenovgrad and Dian Ilianov Kostov, 18, from Kazanluk,  suffer from osteogenesis imperfecta – fragile bones. The cost of the necessary medicines is around BGN 1,000 a month and is not covered by the NHIF or Health Ministry. With funds from “The Bulgarian Christmas” medicines were bought for the treatment of osteogenesis imperfecta, thus supporting the treatment of these six children until the end of 2006.

Five children, suffering from  infantile cerebral paralysis (ICP) – Simeon Krassimirov Kirilov, 7, from Varna, Simone Vassileva Kazakova, 5, from Kiten, Kristian Zahariev Yonchev, 3, from the village of Dryanovo, Militsa Milanova Yordanova, 4, from Trun, Velislav Haralampiev Todorov, 3, from Vratsa, received support for their expensive treatment by means of metabolic therapy.

Bozhidar Dechev, 4, from Veliko Turnovo, suffers from a particularly severe form of ICP. Two rehabilitation courses in the St. Sophia Specialised Hospital for Residential Treatment. Prolonged Therapy and Rehabilitation of Children with Cerebral Paralysis, which includes kinesitherapy, psychological and speech therapy, and teaching the mother how to provide rehabilitation at home.  This type of rehabilitation is not financed by the NHIF.

Three children disgnosed with retinopathy of prematurity have been supported for eye surgery abroad – Ilian Tsvetomirov Ivanov, 1, from Sofia,  Milena Petrova Petrova, 2, from Roman, and Roberto Radoslavov Arnaoudov, 3 months, from Pernik.

The four-year-old Alexandra Stefanovska from Sofia was born without an auricle. An expensive hearing implant for surgery was bought for the child. 

Ivan Krassimirov Radkov, 8, from Sofia, suffers from ICP, due to which his  movement is limited. With the support of “The Bulgarian Christmas” Ivan now has a specially adapted Zimmer frame, which enables him to stand up and encourages him to walk.

Yordan Ivanov Ivanov, 8, from Dobrich, and Elena Vladimirova Kaldarumova, 5, from Sofia, suffer from ICP. They have been supported with funds needed for the laboratory processing and implantation of stem cells. The extraction and implantation was carried out at the St. John of Rila UMHAT.

For Simeon Ivov Konstantinov, 5, from Byala Slatina, Lyubomir Ivailov Elenkov, 3, from Sofia, and  Vesselina Georgieva Grahlyova, 16, from the village of Saparevo,  funds from “The Bulgarian Christmas” were provided for stem cell transplantations abroad.

Part of the funds necessary for the bone marrow transplantation in Israel of Gergana Stoyanova  Stoyanova, 14, from Sofia, were donated by “The Bulgarian Christmas”.

Three children with severe oncological diseases were supported with funds for the purchase of medicines and medical consumables – Anton Milev Ivanov, 5, from Haskovo, Christina Nikolova, 13, from Sofia, and Maria Yossifova Minkova, 10, from Cherven Bryag.

For two children at the age of two, suffering from a rare disease - nesidioblastosis, medicines from abroad were ensured for one year. At the request of their parents, the names of the children are not publicly announced.

Funds from “The Bulgarian Christmas” were used to purchase expensive medicines and medical consumables, as well as for the rehabilitation of another three children in an extremely grave health condition. At the request of their parents, the names of the children are also not disclosed.

Neonatology and Child Nursing ward of the Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment Bourgas. A neonatal respirator, two incubators, two monitors and one echocardiograph were purchased.    

Newborn and Premature Infants ward of the Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment Plovdiv. A neonatal respirator, four monitors and four incubators were purchased.    

Paediatrics ward of the St Anna Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment, Sofia. Four oxygen tents, a scale height and weight meter, two baby scales, an  echograph, pulsoximeter and six nursing beds were purchased.

Paediatrics ward of the Hristo Botev Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment, Vratsa. One monitor, four oxygen tents and an echograph were purchased.

Paediatrics ward of the Dr. Tota Venkova Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment, Gabrovo. A monitor, a defibrillator, four oxygen tents and an echograph were purchased.

Stoyan Kirkovich Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment, Stara Zagora. A neonatal respirator and two incubators were purchased.    

Pirogov MHATEM. Two incubators and two monitors were purchased.

Dr. G. Stranski University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment, Pleven. Two incubators, a monitor, defibrillator and echograph were purchased.

Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment Sofia. Two incubators were purchased.

St. Anna Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment, Varna. A monitor, echograph and incubator were purchased.

Specialised Hospital for Active Treatment of children’s diseases, Sofia. A neonatal respirator, BACTEC system, 45 packages of the Sandimmun Neoral medication, a neonatal transducer and echograph were purchased.   

Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment, Vidin. An echocardiograph and monitor were purchased.
For the Emergency Medical Care Centre in Razgrad, the Specialised Hospital for Residential Treatment, Prolonged Therapy and Rehabilitation Kostenets, and the Specialised Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment of Internal Diseases Godech and the St. Panteleimon Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment, Yambol ambulances were purchased.

For the National Cardiology Hospital in  Sofia electrophysiological test equipment was purchased.
